Former Ghanaian footballer Ntow Gyan has called for the change of Black Stars tactics at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following a draw against England last Tuesday.

Ghana housed in Group L, with Croatia, Panama and England have managed four points in two matches but scored just a goal, with two clean sheets. The Black Stars under their new boss Carlos Queiroz seems mastered the act of defending than unleashing his attacks in their first two matches of the global showpiece.

Ghana had few of the ball against Panama, recording 25 per cent but secured a late winner through Caleb Yirenkyi’s 95th minute goal. Was no different, when the Black Stars took on England in Boston.

Carlos Queiroz side saw just 19 per cent ball possession to draw goalless. In both matches, a Ghanaian attacker have yet to hit top speed, leaving Ghanaian coach and former Asante Kotoko SC midfielder Ntow Gyan disturbed.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM in Accra, Ntow questioned whether Ghana will be seen defending throughout the tournament without attacking and having their wingers run down defenders.

He demanded Carlos Queiroz start to play attacking football and create goalscoring opportunities.

“We’ve defended, and defended what do we think about the attack.

“What do they have to offer us. What result are they also giving us because the team has being directed and set-up to defend. Our captain Jordan Ayew is also defending, Inaki and Semenyo all coming back to defend”

“We need to start scoring, other nations at the tournament has their attackers scoring and we are not seeing Ghana”

“Are we going to defend throughout the entire tournament? We need to play more attacking football and create more goal-scoring opportunities in the games ahead” – Ntow Gyan said.

The four times Africa Champions will face Croatia on Saturday, June 27, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 GMT.

Ghana’s draw against England leaves the West African country in a strong position in Group L with 4 points and on the brink of qualification for the Round of 32 ahead of their final group fixture.
