Kenya, 16 June 2026 – Over 2,000 learners in three counties are set to benefit from a new education programme following a partnership between Airtel Money Kenya and ChildFund Kenya aimed at improving access to education for children with disabilities.
In a joint statement, the two organisations confirmed that the initiative will target four institutions in Baringo, Wajir, and Garissa counties, which are serving communities facing challenges in access to inclusive and quality education.
The institutions include Marigat Integrated Day and Boarding Primary School and Marigat Special School for the Visually Impaired in Baringo County, Garissa School for the Deaf in Garissa County, and Catholic Integrated Primary and Junior School in Wajir County.
The new programme will be keen to reinforce learning infrastructure, improve sanitation systems, and expand access to digital learning tools in these schools.
The initiative will also improve access to clean water by installing pipeline extensions, solar-powered pumps, water storage facilities, and school hygiene infrastructure.
The institutions are optimistic that the projects will create a safer and more supportive environment, especially for learners with visual and hearing impairments, who are the most affected by learning barriers.
According to ChildFund Kenya Country Director Sankara Gitau, the initiative will equip these learners with the confidence to unlock their untapped potential and access equal opportunities just like other children.
