In a past interview with TUKO.co.ke, Maribel had opened up about the struggles she had faced in her life, including her mental health journey.

Following news of her death, fans flooded social media timelines with emotional tributes, mourning her sudden passing.

What did Maribel’s leaked chats show?

Among those who publicly mourned her was her friend, identified as Martoh Muriithi, who shared their final WhatsApp conversations alongside a touching tribute.

In his message, Martoh reflected on their friendship, noting that they had become acquainted back in 2021.

“We shared banter, jokes, long chats… and in her low moments when life got heavy, I would send her something small and call to check on her. Mental illness is such a horrible thing. Quiet battles people fight smiling. I am deeply saddened by her untimely demise,” he wrote.

Martoh added that their last conversation happened on WhatsApp just weeks before her death. He revealed that Maribel had expressed interest in visiting him again in Malindi.

The shared chats show Maribel reaching out first, congratulating him on having a beautiful family and explaining that she was still waiting for the right timing in her own life.

Martoh responded, acknowledging his own journey and reassuring her that she would also find her match, noting that there is no perfect timing in life.

Maribel then opened up about her struggles, revealing that a lack of clients in her business had left her depressed, forcing her to rely on TikTok live sessions to attract clients.

In one of the messages, she also spoke about her mental health episodes.

“…Here is the catch: when I am slipping back into maniac attack, I don’t really know. It’s not something that happens just once; it’s something that creeps in slowly, and before you know it, you have messed up everything you have built,” she said.

She went on to recount a previous episode, revealing that she lost both her apartment and business during one of her lowest moments.

The screenshots did not show Martoh’s responses to that particular confession. However, he said he was heartbroken, especially because he had promised to call her back to discuss Malindi but never got the chance.
