The Ghana Police Service has announced major breakthroughs in ongoing investigations into violent crimes and narcotics-related activities across the country, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of key exhibits.

Addressing the media, the Director-General of the Public Affairs Directorate (PAD), Grace Ansah-Akrofi, disclosed that police had arrested three additional suspects in connection with the murder of Indian national, Saint Devendra Kumar, whose body was discovered on April 26, 2026, with multiple stab wounds in the boot of his abandoned vehicle near Asante Akim in the Ashanti Region.

According to police, sustained intelligence-led operations conducted in Kumasi between April 29 and April 30 led to the arrest of suspects Usman Moro, also known as Tiago, Moro Suli alias Moro Akoboya, and John Adoku alias Kater.

Their arrest brings the total number of suspects apprehended in the case to four.

Investigators revealed that the first suspect, Akum Kujo Jr., admitted involvement in the murder and confessed that on April 24, 2026, he disconnected and replaced CCTV camera servers at the deceased’s workplace with assistance from suspect Moro Suli.

Police later retrieved the concealed CCTV server from a location identified as Darban New Site in Kumasi after the suspect led officers to the scene.

Further investigations established that Akum Kujo Jr. allegedly took possession of the deceased’s iPhone 17 Pro Max and a Tecno mobile phone after the murder. He reportedly handed the iPhone to Usman Moro at Kaase while the Tecno device was given to Moro Suli.

Acting on the information, police arrested Usman Moro in Kaase. He subsequently led officers to a nearby bush where the deceased’s iPhone 17 Pro Max had been buried in a hole wrapped in a brown envelope and covered with fresh leaves.

Police also arrested Moro Suli near a pond at Kaase and retrieved the deceased’s Tecno mobile phone from him.

John Adoku alias Kater also reportedly admitted driving the deceased’s vehicle to the location where it was abandoned.

All suspects remain in police custody while exhibits including the CCTV server, iPhone 17 Pro Max and Tecno phone have been retained for evidential purposes.

Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest two additional suspects identified as Zulu Adrama alias Kila and Vaipu Jetpu Vijay, also known as Taru.

Arrest Over VIP Bus Attack

In a separate development, the Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the armed attack on a VIP passenger bus that occurred on May 2, 2026, at the Nasia Bridge along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway.

The attack resulted in the deaths of two passengers while several others sustained injuries.

Police identified the suspect as Jamal Bature Mumuni, 38, who was arrested on May 6, 2026.

Authorities say the suspect and his gang have been linked to several violent attacks within the Upper East and North East regions.

The suspect is currently assisting with investigations while police intensify efforts to apprehend other gang members believed to be on the run.

Police Warn Against Criminal Content Creation

Speaking further, DCOP Grace Ansah-Akrofi cautioned individuals who engage in criminal acts under the guise of content creation on social media.

According to her, the police have observed a growing trend where some content creators engage in conduct that spreads fear, panic, misinformation and disinformation, while others openly threaten security personnel.

She warned that anyone whose actions border on criminality would be arrested and prosecuted.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the service has intensified online monitoring and patrols to clamp down on such activities.

She referenced the recent arrest of an individual who allegedly threatened to kill security officers online before later claiming he was only creating content.

She also recalled previous arrests involving individuals who posed as bandits and threatened violence against the public.

“The Ghana Police Service will fish you out, pursue you, arrest you and ensure you face the full rigours of the law,” she warned.

50 Arrested in Major Anti-Narcotics Operation

Meanwhile, the Director-General in charge of Operations for the Ghana Police Service, Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, announced that the IGP Special Operations Team had arrested 50 suspects during an intelligence-led anti-narcotics operation conducted on May 7, 2026, at the Madina Market enclave in the Greater Accra Region.

The operation led to the arrest of 46 males and four females.

Preliminary screening showed the suspects comprised 25 Ghanaians, 13 Nigerians, nine Nigeriens, one Malian, one Togolese and one Burkinabe national.

Police identified two suspects  Amiga Loko, 26, and Mohamed Zaire, a Nigerian national  as key figures within the alleged criminal network.

Two other suspects, Yousif Abubakar, 25, and Amadou Afan, 43, both Nigerians, were identified as shop owners allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of narcotic substances.

Exhibits retrieved during the operation included 230 boxes of tramadol valued at GH¢130,000, 49 boxes of “red” valued at GH¢26,000, 10 parcels of Indian hemp valued at GH¢15,000, 13 boxes of crutches, mobile phones, scissors, knives and other suspected narcotics-related materials.

Police estimated the street value of the seized items at approximately GH¢200,000.

All 50 suspects and the recovered exhibits have been transported to the National Operations Directorate Headquarters for further investigations and possible prosecution.

COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe stated that the Ghana Police Service would continue targeted operations against the supply, distribution and peddling of narcotic substances in markets, communities and public spaces nationwide.

On behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, he commended officers involved in the operation for their dedication and professionalism.
