Ogun State Students for Yayi Movement has congratulated Senator Solomon Adeola on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election, describing the development as a defining moment in the political evolution of the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its convener, Bamgbose Tomiwa, the group said Adeola’s emergence “reflects a broad recognition of his years of public service, legislative contributions, and commitment to development,” while urging students and youth bodies across Ogun State to mobilise early support for his candidacy.
It was stated that the emergence marks a significant moment in the political history of Ogun State and reflects a broad recognition of his years of public service, legislative contributions, and commitment to development.
The group highlighted Adeola’s record in public office, particularly his interventions in education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure, noting that his legislative efforts have had a direct impact on communities, especially in Ogun West.
“From his sponsorship and successful passage of the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro bill to his consistent interventions across all local government areas in Ogun West, he has proven himself as a leader who understands the needs of the common man and the aspirations of the younger generation,” it added.
According to the group, Adeola’s candidacy represents a shift towards a future shaped by preparedness, competence, and inclusiveness, stressing that many young people in the state see his emergence as an opportunity for more youth-focused governance.
“The generality of Ogun State students believe that the future belongs to those who prepare for it today. Senator Yayi represents that prepared future.
“He embodies the hope of thousands of young people who seek a government that prioritises education, entrepreneurship, technology, job creation, and inclusive governance,” the statement said.
The students’ group also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what it described as a courageous and statesmanlike role in supporting a consensus arrangement that produced a candidate from Ogun West, a region that has long agitated for the governorship position.
It further described the governor’s decision as one that could foster political balance and unity across the state.
Reaffirming its position, the group declared total support for Adeola’s ambition and pledged to mobilise students and youths across campuses and communities in the state ahead of the 2027 election.
“Finally, Ogun State Students for Yayi Movement declares total support for Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon Yayi and pledges to work tirelessly towards his victory at the polls,” the statement said.
The coalition also called on party loyalists, traditional rulers, market women, artisans, and other stakeholders to unite behind the APC candidate in order to secure victory for the party.
