Accra Street Journal boosts startups and SMEs with digital coverage

Accra’s growing digital media ecosystem is witnessing a gradual shift toward business-focused storytelling, with emerging platforms increasingly positioning themselves as visibility engines for small businesses and startups. One such platform making early impact is Accra Street Journal, a digital publication launched in February 2025.

Published under SamBoad Publishing, the platform operates within the wider structure of SamBoad Business Group Ltd, a diversified business group with interests spanning media, marketing, and business development services.

Founded and led editorially by Samuel Kwame Boadu, who also serves as the group’s Digital Marketing Lead, Accra Street Journal has begun shaping a niche around amplifying startups, SMEs, and emerging entrepreneurs within Ghana’s informal and formal business economy.

Unlike traditional news outlets that often prioritize institutional or high-profile corporate coverage, the publication is gradually carving a different angle—one that emphasizes visibility for early-stage businesses, founder stories, and operational challenges within Ghana’s SME sector. This approach reflects a broader trend in digital media where storytelling is increasingly tied to discovery, search traffic, and business growth outcomes.

In recent months, the platform has focused on publishing features around small business innovation, local entrepreneurship, and market adaptation strategies, particularly in urban commercial hubs such as Accra. This SME-centered approach aligns with the growing recognition that small and medium-sized enterprises remain a key driver of Ghana’s employment and economic activity. Media analysts from ModernGhana suggest that niche digital publications like Accra Street Journal are filling an important gap between traditional press coverage and digital-first business visibility, where startups often struggle to access mainstream media exposure without significant public relations budgets.

While still in its early growth phase, the platform is expected to expand its editorial scope to include more structured SME spotlights, sector-specific reporting, and potentially sponsored business visibility features as it scales its operations.

For now, Accra Street Journal’s positioning highlights a broader evolution in Ghana’s media landscape—where journalism, digital marketing, and entrepreneurship increasingly intersect to create new pathways for business exposure and growth.
