President John Dramani Mahama has hosted the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, at the Peduase Lodge in the Eastern Region, where he stressed the urgent need for African countries to strengthen intra-African trade, investment and cooperation.
The meeting formed part of efforts to deepen bilateral relations between Ghana and Zimbabwe, while promoting economic collaboration across the continent.
President Mahama said increased trade among African countries is essential for economic growth and sustainable development. He emphasised the need for African nations to reduce trade barriers and implement policies that encourage investment within the continent.
He added that stronger cooperation among African states would help build resilient economies and reduce dependence on external markets.
President Mahama also noted that both Ghana and Zimbabwe are richly endowed with natural resources, and stressed the need for the two countries to work together to promote responsible and sustainable mining practices.
He said collaboration in the mining sector would help ensure that natural resources are managed properly for the benefit of citizens, while protecting the environment.
President Mnangagwa expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties with Ghana and other African countries.
The engagement is expected to further enhance diplomatic relations and support ongoing efforts towards regional integration in Africa.
