The Kotobabi District Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a motorist following a road traffic accident at Maamobi. The arrest, effected on Wednesday, February 26, 2026, forms part of ongoing investigations into the incident.
According to a police statement issued on Monday, March 2, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2026, when personnel on routine patrol within the Maamobi area encountered the victim, 24-year-old Yakubu Manan Abdul.
He reported that he had been involved in a motor accident with the suspect, identified as Razak Kwanda.
Preliminary investigations indicate that during the course of the accident, the suspect allegedly attacked and assaulted the victim, causing him injuries. The patrol team subsequently conveyed the victim, together with his damaged motorbike, to the Kotobabi Police Station, where a formal complaint was lodged, and investigations commenced.
Police said the suspect was arrested at about 9:45 a.m. on February 26 and is currently on police enquiry bail, assisting with investigations.
The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against resorting to violence in the event of road traffic accidents or disputes. It advised individuals involved in such incidents to remain calm and allow the appropriate authorities to handle matters in accordance with the law.
The Command further assured the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order and urged anyone with relevant information to assist the police in ongoing investigations.
