Police visit Yagbonwura, donate to Muslim community

The Savannah Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) David Amoako Esq., has paid a working visit to the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, in Damongo as part of efforts to strengthen security collaboration in the region.

The Yagbonwura, who also serves as Paramount Chief of the Damongo Traditional Council and the Savannah Regional Chief Imam, welcomed the delegation during the courtesy call aimed at deepening ties between the Police Service and key traditional and religious stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering on Saturday February 28, DCOP Amoako explained that the visit was intended to reinforce cooperation with traditional and religious authorities, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan a sacred period of fasting and prayer for Muslims.
In recognition of the significance of the season, he announced that the Savannah Regional Police Command had donated assorted items to support members of the Muslim community in breaking their fast.

Beyond the symbolic gesture, the Regional Commander highlighted improvements in the security landscape. He disclosed that the region has recorded a significant reduction in highway robbery and other major crimes compared to previous periods.

According to him, the progress is the result of enhanced security operations and sustained collaboration with community stakeholders.

Responding to the visit, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I commended the Police Command for what he described as its dedication and tireless efforts in safeguarding lives and property, as well as maintaining peace and order across the Savannah Region.
