Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) enters new chapter with unveiling of new logo

The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) has officially introduced a new logo in what leaders describe as the beginning of a rebranding drive aimed at repositioning the sport for the future.

The unveiling ceremony took place on Thursday at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium, drawing executive board members, finalists of the 2025 National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship, and key stakeholders within Ghana’s sporting fraternity.

Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, graced the occasion and used the platform to call for greater investment in amateur boxing and grassroots sports development. He praised the finalists for their dedication and encouraged them to strive for excellence.

He described the new logo as “fashionable and distinct,” expressing optimism that the fresh identity would help attract a broader audience to the sport and inspire the emergence of more boxing champions.

The event was chaired by Nana Amponsh Adu-Gyamfi, Kyidomhene of Assin Achiase in the Assin South District Assembly, and was enlivened by vibrant kpanlogo performances from the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GHABSU).

In his remarks, Nana Adu-Gyamfi commended the federation’s new executives for their foresight in crafting a renewed identity to project their commitment to Ghana boxing. Alhaji Shabaan Mohammed attended on behalf of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

GBF President Dauda Fuseni described the launch as a defining moment in the history of the sport in Ghana. He stressed that a logo goes beyond aesthetics, representing identity, vision, values and direction.

“For decades, Ghana has been a proud boxing nation, producing remarkable talents and unforgettable moments on continental and global stages. As the sport evolves, it is important that our image reflects a modern, dynamic and forward-looking organisation,” he said.

According to Fuseni, the new emblem embodies renewal, strength, unity and excellence, while reinforcing the federation’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, youth development and international competitiveness. He noted that it mirrors the fighting spirit traditionally associated with Ghanaian boxers — disciplined, resilient and fearless.

He was quick to add that the unveiling is not merely symbolic but signals a broader strategic shift focused on grassroots development, improved governance, stronger partnerships and thorough preparation of athletes for major international competitions.

“We believe this new identity will inspire our athletes, energise stakeholders and strengthen our brand both locally and internationally. It aligns with our vision of repositioning Ghanaian boxing among the world’s elite,” Fuseni added.

Also addressing the gathering, Nana Sam Gyan of GHABSU appealed to corporate bodies to extend sponsorship to both the sport and its supporters.

The celebrations are set to continue on Friday night at the Arena, where GHABSU will entertain fans alongside musicians including Tinny, Rap Father and other invited performers.
