Popular content creator, Iniobong Esther Louis, better known as Sunshine, will be laid to rest on Wednesday, January 28, in Lagos, following her tragic death earlier this month.

According to a funeral notice shared by her friend and fellow creator, Chidera Madu, on Tuesday, Sunshine’s body will depart Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, for interment at Atan Cemetery, Yaba.

Sunshine, aged 34, reportedly died on January 9, 2026, after complications from a fibroid surgery. She hailed from Nnung Udoe Itak in Ikono Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

In an earlier statement, the family confirmed her death, saying, “We the family of Esther Thomas (a.k.a. Sunshine), with pain in our hearts, regret to announce the sudden demise of our beloved sister and daughter… who passed away on January 9, 2026, after an unsuccessful surgery.”

Madu disclosed that Sunshine began experiencing severe stomach pains on December 28, 2025, which worsened by New Year’s Day. She was first treated at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where only pain medication was administered due to an ongoing doctors’ strike.

She was later transferred to another hospital on January 2, where medical tests revealed a large fibroid.

Doctors recommended immediate surgery, which was carried out and initially declared successful.

However, Sunshine reportedly developed post-operative complications shortly after, which eventually led to her death.
