As in previous years, 2025 once again showed that fame offers no immunity from matters of the heart in the world of celebrity relationships.

While some Nigerian celebrities found love and commitment, others were not as fortunate.

In this article, PREMIUM TIMES highlights the celebrity break-ups and marriages that set social media abuzz this year.

Celebrity separations

2Baba and Annie Macaulay

On 27 January, Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia announced his separation from his wife of 12 years, Annie Macaulay.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, the “African Queen” singer confirmed that the couple had been separated and were awaiting the conclusion of their divorce proceedings.

2Baba and Annie began their relationship in 1999. In 2012, he proposed to her on Valentine’s Day in Lagos, and they got married later that year.

The couple welcomed their first daughter, Isabella, in 2008, and their second daughter, Olivia, in 2014.

Ijoba Lande and Dara

In March, actor and skit maker Ganiu “Ijoba Lande” Morufu announced his separation from his wife, Dara, amid allegations of infidelity and extramarital affairs involving multiple entertainers, including Babatunde “Baba Tee” Tayo.

Following the separation, both parties granted several interviews in which they levelled allegations against each other.

Baba Tee later acknowledged and apologised to Ijoba Lande for engaging in an alleged sexual relationship with his estranged wife.

The couple have a son, Jamal.

Frank Edoho

On 28 June, renowned broadcaster and former “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” host Frank Edoho announced the end of his second marriage to Sandra Onyenucheya.

Sandra was Edoho’s second wife, following his separation from his first wife, television personality Katherine Obiang, with whom he had three children.

Edoho and Sandra welcomed their first child in 2014 and their second in 2016.

Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko

In October, actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels announced the collapse of her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North, citing allegations of domestic violence.

Daniels said she could no longer endure the alleged abuse in the marriage. In response, Mr Nwoko denied the claims and countered with allegations of drug abuse, violence against staff, and destruction of property.

The couple married in 2019. Regina, the senator’s sixth wife, had two children with him, Munir and Khalifa.

Sabinus and Ciana Chapman

In December, popular skit maker and actor Chukwuemeka “Sabinus” Ejekwu announced that his marriage to Ciana Chapman had ended.

The couple married in 2023 and had a daughter together. Before the separation, Ms Chapman had accused the comedian of infidelity and failure to provide financial support for their child.

Biola Adebayo and Oluwaseyi Akinrinde

In June, filmmaker and actress Abiola Adebayo announced her separation from her husband, Oluwaseyi Akinrinde, whom she had married on April 7, 2021.

The actress, who anchored the popular podcast “Talk To B”, disclosed that they parted ways in April 2024. The couple welcomed their only child, a son, in April 2023 through a surrogate.

Anita Joseph and MC Fish

In December, actress Anita Joseph announced the end of her marriage to Fisayo ‘MC Fish’ Michael.

The couple married in 2020. Although neither party publicly stated the reason for the separation, rumours suggested the marriage ended amid allegations of infidelity, domestic violence, and substance abuse.

Celebrity weddings

Juma Jux and Priscilla Ojo

In April, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux married Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, in Lagos, following their Islamic wedding in Tanzania in February.

In August, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Rakeem, in Canada.

Davido and Chioma

In August, Afrobeats superstar David ‘Davido’ Adeleke married his wife, Chioma Adeleke, in a lavish white wedding ceremony in Miami, United States.

The Miami wedding, tagged #Chivido2025, followed their traditional wedding in Lagos in June 2024 and their court marriage in March of the same year.

2Baba and Natasha Osawaru

Six months after his separation from Annie Macaulay, 2Baba married Edo State House of Assembly member Natasha Osawaru in July in Abuja.

The wedding was a private and low-key affair, and the couple reportedly welcomed their first child together in November.

Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola

In August, singer Oluwatosin “Mr Eazi” Ajibade married actress and entrepreneur Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, in a private ceremony in Iceland.

Mr Eazi proposed to Temi in April 2022, four years after they met at a music event organised by DJ Cuppy. They exchanged vows at Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavík.

5Naira and Chidimma

Content creator 5Naira officially married his longtime partner, Chidimma, in October 2025.

Comedian Flower Boy proposed to Graxie in June, with their wedding scheduled for December 2025.

Shawn Faqua and Dr Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe

The Nollywood actor married his partner in a unique ceremony aboard the Lagos Blue Line train in October.

Chinko Ekun and Ayemidun

The rapper married his longtime partner in Ibadan in August, following traditional and white wedding ceremonies.

Eve Esin and Suleiman Mohammed

The veteran actress celebrated a culturally rich traditional wedding in Akwa Ibom in October.

Deacon Famous and Mawusi Faith

The comedian held a Nigerian–Ghanaian traditional wedding in Accra in February.

Sammylee Nnamdi

The actor and filmmaker celebrated his traditional wedding in December.

Ruby Ojiakor

The actress married filmmaker Moc Madu in a traditional ceremony in Imo State.

Rahama Sadau

The actress announced her Nikkah in August.

Enado Odigie and Tola Odunsi

The actress and filmmaker tied the knot in early 2025, described as Nollywood’s first wedding of the year.

Ifedayo Agoro and Frank Itom

The influencer and content creator held civil and traditional ceremonies after publicly documenting their relationship.
