Management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has announced a firm decision not to initiate any new projects until all stalled infrastructure developments are completed.
The hospital is currently dealing with several long-standing, uncompleted projects, including the Doctors’ Office Complex, begun in 1992, the Sickle Cell Treatment Centre, and the Psychiatric Centre.
Speaking at a consultative forum in Kumasi with management on Thursday, January 22, consultants and senior specialists, KATH Chief Executive Officer, Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, detailed steps being taken to ensure the completion of these projects.
“When you go to the hospital, many projects have been abandoned. As management, and for me as CEO, I have resolved that we are not starting any new project until we complete the abandoned ones,” Dr Baidoo said.
He noted that the only exception is a new project overseen by President John Dramani Mahama, which falls outside his control. “But as the CEO, I have resolved that we will complete most of these projects,” he added.
