The Late IK Gyasi.

The mortal remains of Mr Ibrahim Kwaku Gyasi, an educationist and veteran columnist has been laid to rest in his native hometown at Nsuta in the Sekyere central district of the Ashanti region.

The burial followed an Islamic prayer (Jannaza), held at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Mosque at Kumasi Asafo, which attracted thousands of mourners, family members, friends and sympathisers.

The prayers, was led by Sayed Naimatullah Taier, the Ashanti Regional Maulvi, of the Ahamadiyya Muslim Mission.

Mr I. K Gyasi, as he was affectionately known, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the age of 89.

He was the former Headmaster of T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School and an educationist.‎‎

He had also been a columnist in many newspapers in Ghana, writing on various issues, especially in the areas of education, culture, politics and other social issues.

The announcement of his demise on Monday, January 05, 2026, elicited a profound outpouring of tributes from educators, journalists, former students, and readers nationwide, all of whom continued to honour his outstanding legacy in education and public discourse.‎

He was held in high regard as a disciplinarian, mentor, and reform-minded administrator during his tenure as Headmaster of T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School.‎

Mr I. K Gyasi was instrumental in fostering academic excellence, moral integrity, and leadership development among generations of students.‎

Beyond the confines of the classroom, the late Mr Gyasi emerged as a prolific writer and columnist, whose astute commentaries on education, governance, culture, and national development garnered him admiration throughout media circles.‎‎

He had been honoured many times by the Ghana Journalist Association for his immense contribution to journalism and the correct use of the English language in the media landscape.

The family said there will be no ‘adua’ or any ceremonial observance to commemorate his passing, in accordance with his wish.‎‎
