Residents of Ehiamenkyene in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region have renewed calls for the leadership of the Ghana Police Service to intensify its investigations into the murder of Evelyn Osakonor, a popular food vendor, whose prime suspect remains at large months after he allegedly committed the crime.

Evelyn, also known as Koyor, a popular food vendor and mother of a three-year-old, was allegedly murdered on November 13, 2025, with her body later found at a guest house linked to her boyfriend, popularly known as James Bond, who has since gone into hiding.

The appeal was made on Saturday, January 3, 2026, during her burial, as family members and community leaders accused the police of slow and inconclusive investigations, warning that fear and tension are growing in the community.

Reading a petition during her burial on Saturday, January 3, 2026, the President of the Ehiamenkyene Youth Association, Raphael Odonkor, accused the police of slow and inconclusive investigations, warning that fear and tension are growing in the community.

He indicated that repeated reports of sightings of the suspect had not led to any arrest,  and called on the Inspector-General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to ensure swift, transparent investigations for justice to be served to restore public confidence in law enforcement agencies in the country.

“The community is gravely concerned about the slow pace and apparent lack of urgency in the investigation by the local police, despite persistent reports from residents that the prime suspect, James Tei, popularly known as James Bond, who is currently on the run, has been sighted at various locations. These reports have not, to our knowledge, resulted in any decisive action,” he said.
