Denugu (UER), Jan. 04, GNA – Naba Batt Maj Dr Sylvester Alhassan Tintaangobr has called on residents to prioritise peace, discipline, and hard work in 2026, describing them as essential foundations for security and development.
Delivering his New Year message at his palace in Denugu in the Upper East region, the Chief congratulated the people for enduring what he termed a difficult 2025.
He also extended special commendation to the Zug Raan of Kusaug Naba Abugrago Azorka II and the people of Kusaug, for maintaining unity despite socio-economic challenges.
He said, “The immediate past year was challenging, but with determination and by the grace of God, we sailed through,” and urged everyone to work hard towards achieving your set goals in 2026.
Naba Tintaangobr emphasised the importance of youth discipline in nation-building, warning that social vices threatened individual futures and eroded community stability.
“I urge our youth to desist from all forms of social vices, including drug abuse and alcohol.
“These practices destroy health and often lead to conflict with the law,” he stated.
He also charged parents and guardians to assume greater responsibility for the moral guidance of their children and wards.
He noted that family supervision remained a critical line of defence against indiscipline and insecurity.
The chief stressed zero tolerance for actions that undermined stability and progress, saying, “Peace is fundamental to development. I urge all of us to desist from actions that may undermine the peace and security of Kusaug.”
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, adding, “Be security conscious and report any strange or suspicious persons to the police for further action.”
Naba Maj Tintaangobr appealed for broad community support as he prepared to roll out development projects in the area in 2026.
He noted that meaningful progress would depend on collective ownership and sustained cooperation.
“I call on all fellow citizens to support me as your chief as I roll out projects for the development of our community,” he said.
He wished residents a peaceful and prosperous New Year, reiterating that discipline, hard work, and unity remained the surest path to lasting development in Denugu and the wider Kusaug area.
