Sunyani, Bono, Jan. 1, GNA\u00a0\u2013 Very\u00a0Rev.\u00a0Dr. Solomon Bruce,\u00a0the Superintendent Minister of the Sunyani Wesley Methodist Cathedral, has\u00a0endorsed the\u00a0proposal for a five-year presidential tenure, as recommended by the Constitutional Review Committee.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In an interview with the Ghana News\u00a0Agency (GNA) in Sunyani at the church\u2019s 31st all-night service of the\u00a0Wesley Cathedral, Rev.\u00a0Dr. Bruce expressed his support for the proposal, citing the need for a longer tenure to enable the president and government to execute their mandates effectively.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, the five-year presidential tenure is good, because the four years is not enough for a particular office to execute all what is expected to do,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Rev. Dr. Bruce, however, urged the committee to ensure that the implementation of the five-year tenure is left to the next president, rather than the current one, to avoid any potential controversy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFor\u00a0posterity\u2019s\u00a0sake, President Mahama should leave the implementation of the five-year execution to whoever comes after him,\u201d\u00a0he\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The reverend minister also commended the Constitutional Review Committee for its recommendations, amendments, and proposals, which, he believes, will\u00a0facilitate\u00a0accelerated national development.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0He, however, expressed concern over the disparity in the\u00a0remuneration\u00a0of Article 71 office holders, describing it as \u201cunacceptable\u201d and a hindrance to national development.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Pastor Jerry Ohene-Acquah of the Church of Pentecost,\u00a0Abetifi\u00a0Worship Center, Sunyani, has called on Ghanaians to change their ways and desist from corruption\u00a0in the\u00a0year 2026 and\u00a0\u00a0 assured Ghanaians that God has better plans for the country,\u00a0urging them\u00a0to be disciplined and change their ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Pastor Ohene-Acquah also emphasized the need for processing factories across agricultural regions to add value to Ghana\u2019s raw materials and agricultural products,\u00a0boosting the\u00a0economy, and\u00a0creating employment\u00a0opportunities for the populace.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The.\u00a0church\u00a0service was\u00a0attended by several dignitaries, including traditional leaders and government officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n
