The management of Akyem Enyiresi Government Hospital in the Atewa East District of the Eastern Region has welcomed a boost to its capacity to respond to health emergencies following the handover of a two-storey, four-bedroom apartment to the hospital\u2019s doctors by the constituency Member of Parliament, Abena Osei Asare.<\/p>\n

For years, doctors living far away in Anyinam faced challenges attending to emergencies due to the lack of on-site accommodation. The new facility is expected to address this long-standing issue, allowing medical staff to respond promptly at any hour.<\/p>\n

Speaking after receiving the keys, the hospital\u2019s Medical Superintendent, Dr Osei Mensah, praised the initiative and appealed to the government to complete the expansion of the Mother and Child Unit, which is about 90% complete. He noted that the new accommodation will significantly improve healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiving us this accommodation is something we have dreamed about for a very long time. When a doctor is posted to a specific area, accommodation has always been a big challenge. The existence of this facility will enable us to take care of clients promptly,\u201d Dr Mensah said.<\/p>\n

The District Chief Executive, Ernest Owusu Ntim, also welcomed the initiative, highlighting the government\u2019s commitment to supporting ongoing developmental projects at the hospital. He urged management to ensure the new facility is properly maintained.<\/p>\n
