Prosecutors requested, and the court granted, an order of protection for the nightclub employee. Authorities noted that Neverson is a frequent patron of the establishment.<\/p>\n<p>His lawyer, Mitchell Schuster, disputed the prosecution\u2019s account, saying the situation escalated after his client was provoked. \u201cThe incident began when Trey was confronted by individuals who instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him,\u201d Schuster said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Neverson\u2019s security team stepped in to defuse the situation. \u201cHis security intervened to protect him and contain the situation, and an altercation occurred in the ensuing confusion,\u201d Schuster said. \u201cDespite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schuster also suggested his client was unfairly targeted due to his public profile. \u201cPublic figures are often treated as targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain,\u201d he said, adding that the singer is \u201ccooperating fully in both matters\u201d and remains confident that \u201cthe full context and facts will come to light.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The judge granted Neverson supervised release, citing his prior legal history as a concern, and ordered him to return to court on February 18.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trey Songz is an American R&amp;B singer and songwriter R&amp;B singer Trey Songz has been arrested in New York following an alleged assault involving a nightclub employee in Manhattan\u2019s Times Square area.
