{"id":441428,"date":"2025-11-23T16:39:40","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T16:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2025\/11\/23\/shss-to-start-poultry-and-livestock-farms-soon\/"},"modified":"2025-11-23T16:39:40","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T16:39:40","slug":"shss-to-start-poultry-and-livestock-farms-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2025\/11\/23\/shss-to-start-poultry-and-livestock-farms-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"SHSs to start poultry and livestock farms soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President John Dramani Mahama has announced a new government policy that will require Senior High Schools nationwide to establish their own poultry and livestock farms.<\/p>\n<p>The move, he explained, is aimed at helping schools become more self-sufficient by producing their own meat rather than depending on market purchases.<\/p>\n<p>The President disclosed at the 65th anniversary celebration of Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco), where both he and the First Lady are alumni.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are coming up with a policy, a policy where secondary schools will have a poultry farm and a livestock farm, so Ghanasco will be one of the schools selected,\u201d President Mahama stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will establish a poultry farm here and a livestock farm so that you don\u2019t have to go to the market to buy your meat. You take your meat from your own farm. And again, the headmaster will have no excuse when you go to the dining hall and there\u2019s no meat in your food.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the President, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to enhance food production, promote practical agricultural training for students, and guarantee a reliable supply of fresh meat for school meals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John Dramani Mahama has announced a new government policy that will require Senior High Schools nationwide to establish their own poultry and livestock farms.
