{"id":433110,"date":"2025-11-07T22:12:27","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T22:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2025\/11\/07\/sml-press-conference-filled-with-falsehoods\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T22:12:27","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T22:12:27","slug":"sml-press-conference-filled-with-falsehoods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2025\/11\/07\/sml-press-conference-filled-with-falsehoods\/","title":{"rendered":"SML press conference filled with falsehoods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has described claims made by Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) during its recent press conference as false and misleading.<\/p>\n<p>SML\u2019s lawyer, Cephas Boyuo, at a media briefing on Friday, November 7, defended the company\u2019s revenue assurance contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), rejecting the Office of the Special Prosecutor\u2019s (OSP) findings that the firm lacked technical capacity and engaged in irregularities.<\/p>\n<p>However, reacting to the lawyer\u2019s comments on Eyewitness News with Sammie Wiafe, Manasseh Azure said the company was attempting to distort the facts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe comments I heard from SML\u2019s lawyers were not surprising. Much of it was falsehoods. They have peddled these falsehoods after we caught them pants down.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_ad jeg_ad_article jnews_content_inline_2_ads  \">\n<div class=\"ads-wrapper align-center \">\n<div class=\"ads_shortcode\">\n<div class=\"a-single a-10\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-lazyloaded=\"1\" width=\"970\" height=\"250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/VL-970x250-1.png\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe SML lawyer is trying to tell Ghanaians that the company is paid based on performance, which is false,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He particularly took issue with SML\u2019s claim that payments under the contract were performance-based, describing it as \u201ctotally false.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anybody ever gets to speak to them, let them read the payments clause, the fees from the contract.
