Delta Air Lines is deepening its commitment to Ghana and West Africa\u2019s aviation market with the launch of a new seasonal daily nonstop service between Accra and Atlanta, starting December 1, 2025.<\/p>\n

The expansion, announced as the U.S. carrier celebrates its 100th anniversary underscores Delta\u2019s long-term investment in Ghana\u2019s aviation sector, trade connectivity, and community development.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a media briefing in Accra, Michael Thomas, General Manager of Communications at Delta, said Ghana remains central to the airline\u2019s Africa growth strategy:<\/p>\n

\u201cGhana is a key gateway in Delta\u2019s Africa network. Our decision to expand service from Accra reflects our confidence in this market and our commitment to delivering world-class travel experiences to our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thomas added that Delta\u2019s 19 years of continuous operations in Ghana have shown the strength and potential of the country\u2019s travel and business markets.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not only investing in flights and aircraft,\u201d he said, \u201cwe are investing in people, partnerships, and Ghana\u2019s growth story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delta, which began serving Ghana in 2006, has transported about 1.5 million passengers on its flagship Accra\u2013New York JFK route.<\/p>\n

With the addition of the new Atlanta route, the airline will operate two direct U.S. services from Accra \u2014 a year-round daily flight to New York and a seasonal daily flight to Atlanta.<\/p>\n

The new route will offer travelers seamless onward connections to over 215 destinations across the United States.<\/p>\n

Beyond passenger traffic, Delta\u2019s long-standing presence has boosted trade, tourism, and diaspora connectivity, providing a critical link for business and family travel.<\/p>\n

According to Mary Abisola Gbobaniyi, Delta\u2019s Sales Manager for West Africa, the company\u2019s impact goes far beyond aviation:<\/p>\n

\u201cDelta\u2019s commitment isn\u2019t just about connecting markets. It\u2019s about creating jobs, supporting local initiatives, and partnering with communities. We reinvest 1% of our global profits into programs like Junior Achievement Africa and Breast Care International to ensure our impact extends beyond the skies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delta\u2019s social investments in Ghana are wide-ranging. Its decade-long partnership with Breast Care International (BCI) has reached more than 150,000 people with breast cancer education, screened 20,000 individuals, and identified around 2,000 suspected cases.<\/p>\n

Targeted rural campaigns have provided screenings to over 65,000 women, significantly improving early detection and health outcomes.<\/p>\n

Delta remains the only U.S. airline offering nonstop service between Accra and New York, and connects to more than 200 destinations across North America.<\/p>\n
