An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a driver, Eric Afful, into custody for allegedly stealing a Toyota Hilux pick-up vehicle belonging to the Ghana Police Service. <\/p>\n The court\u2019s decision follows Afful\u2019s appearance on charges related to the theft, with his accomplice, identified only as Acquah, still at large. <\/p>\n Afful according to a report by dailguidenetwork.com, faces two counts: conspiracy to commit a crime and stealing, under Sections 23 and 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). <\/p>\n Chief Inspector Amanie Abel, prosecuting, told the court that the vehicle, valued at GH\u00a2300,000.00 belonged to the Commander of the National Patrol Unit. <\/p>\n Caged for a Good Deed: The disturbing consequences of standing surety for a friend<\/p>\n On August 19, 2025, the commander parked the official vehicle outside his residence in Ashaley Botwe, only to discover it missing the following morning. <\/p>\n A report was promptly filed at the Lakeside Estates Police Station. <\/p>\n On August 20, 2025, a police patrol team intercepted the stolen vehicle being driven by Afful. <\/p>\n A search revealed incriminating items, including a police driving logbook, the complainant\u2019s hospital ID card, and a set of Toyota ignition keys. <\/p>\n Initially, Afful claimed a friend had instructed him to pick up a lady with the vehicle but later confessed to stealing it alongside Acquah. <\/p>\n Police arrest five suspects linked to motorbike attacks in Accra<\/p>\n The court, presided over by His Honour Isaac Addo, remanded Afful into custody pending further investigations. <\/p>\n He is scheduled to reappear on September 4, 2025. <\/p>\n GA\/VPO<\/p>\n GhanaWeb’s latest documentary, Sex for Fish, that explores the plights of teenage girls in coastal communities, all in an attempt to survive, is out.
