The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has inaugurated a National Asset Management Working Committee tasked with identifying, accounting for, and ensuring the proper management of Ghana\u2019s public assets.<\/p>\n At a ceremony held in Accra, Dr Forson underscored the urgent need to improve transparency and oversight in the management of state properties. <\/p>\n He lamented the absence of a comprehensive State Assets Register, describing it as a major gap in Ghana\u2019s public financial management system.<\/p>\n He called for bold steps to reverse years of neglect, misuse, and illegal occupation of government-owned assets. <\/p>\n The finance minister also expressed concern about the deteriorating condition of several public properties and the growing trend of unauthorised sales of state lands.<\/p>\n \u201cThe time has come to take stock and protect the assets that belong to all Ghanaians. We cannot continue acquiring new public assets without properly managing the ones we already have,\u201d Dr Forson said. <\/p>\n The newly formed committee will be chaired by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, who pledged to lead a new era of accountability in state asset management.<\/p>\n \u201cThis committee is committed to ending the culture of neglect and ensuring every public asset is properly documented and preserved,\u201d Nyarko stated.<\/p>\n The 15-member committee draws its membership from key ministries, departments, and agencies, ensuring broad representation in the oversight of state property.
