{"id":383972,"date":"2025-07-29T18:25:02","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T18:25:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2025\/07\/29\/parliament-mourns-daddy-lumba\/"},"modified":"2025-07-29T18:25:02","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T18:25:02","slug":"parliament-mourns-daddy-lumba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2025\/07\/29\/parliament-mourns-daddy-lumba\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliament mourns Daddy Lumba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-03-11-at-14.35.36-2-2048x1365.jpeg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Parliament\" data-image-width=\"2048\" data-image-height=\"1365\"\/> <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\tParliament has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\tMaking a statement on the floor of the House, Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Akwasi Konadu, described the late musician as \u201cone of Ghana\u2019s greatest musical legends, a true maestro and an icon whose influence transcended generations and national borders.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\tMr. Konadu praised Daddy Lumba\u2019s enduring contribution to the music industry, calling him a torchbearer whose career was marked by timeless melodies, rich lyrical depth, and powerful social commentary.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cHis works were not just songs,\u201d he said. \u201cThey were experiences\u2014carefully crafted pieces that touched hearts and stirred consciences.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tMP for Nsuta-Kwaman Beposo, Adelaide Agyeiwaa Ntim, also honoured the late icon, describing him as a cultural treasure whose legacy extended far beyond music.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tShe called on government to consider a state burial for the musician.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cDaddy Lumba\u2019s songs transcend generations, touching on themes of love, life, hardship, and celebration. His contribution to Ghana\u2019s music industry is invaluable. He was a pioneer of both the highlife and hiplife genres, mentoring many musicians,\u201d she stated.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tOn behalf of her constituents and traditional leaders in Nsuta-Kwaman, Madam Ntim also appealed for national honours to be conferred on the late legend.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tShe proposed the establishment of an initiative to preserve and promote his musical legacy.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tDaddy Lumba passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a short illness.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tOhene Amponsah\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parliament has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
