A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has criticised the leadership of the party for failing to provide a copy of the Prof Mike Oquaye Committee report to the former President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n Describing the development as \u2018unfortunate,\u2019 Otchere-Darko expressed his disbelief that the report, which details the factors that led to the party\u2019s abysmal loss during the 2024 elections, hasn’t been made available for the party\u2019s former leader to have a read.<\/p>\n According to him, he cannot fathom how the report, which he says has been seen and parts of it quoted by some of the leaders, including the party\u2019s General Secretary and the 2024 flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, hasn’t been given to the key person of the party under whose governance they lost.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, I haven’t [seen the report] and I remember asking Akufo-Addo what is in the report. Even he hasn’t seen it, which I think is quite unfortunate. They haven’t had the decency, I must say, to give him a copy. <\/p>\n \u201cThe former president (sic) hasn’t seen it and I think that’s quite unfortunate because I’ve heard it being quoted. I’ve heard of the General Secretary quoting it, even the, the flag bearer for 2024 who rightly so must have a copy is also quoting from it, but the former president has not seen the copy. They don’t think it’s important to give him a copy, and he won’t ask for it. If you feel he deserves it, he will take it,\u201d he said while speaking on Asaase Radio on June 16, 2025.<\/p>\n Asked about his expectations of the report, Otchere-Darko said that even though he hasn\u2019t seen it, he hopes that the report will address the role of the chairman of the committee himself, Prof Mike Oquaye, buttressing his point with how an attempt by the former government to appoint him as the Speaker of Parliament for a second consecutive term failed woefully.<\/p>\n He further went on to attribute that failed attempt to the party\u2019s challenges, which he believes greatly affected the party\u2019s parliamentary representation and hindered decisions being taken to help the then government.<\/p>\n \u201cI haven’t seen the Oquaye report, but I think that the Oquaye report, I hope, starts with Professor Oquaye. You remember the NPP wanted to repeat Professor Oquaye as a Speaker and that didn’t fly. That’s where the NPP\u2019s problems began so, I hope that your Oquaye report takes that into consideration,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n \u201cLook at all the things that the government couldn’t pass and I hope that the Minority Leader now will find a way to articulate those things.
