{"id":328902,"date":"2025-04-17T12:38:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T12:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2025\/04\/17\/gexim-to-offer-concessional-loans-mahama\/"},"modified":"2025-04-17T12:38:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T12:38:00","slug":"gexim-to-offer-concessional-loans-mahama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2025\/04\/17\/gexim-to-offer-concessional-loans-mahama\/","title":{"rendered":"GEXIM to offer concessional loans \u2013 Mahama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President John Dramani Mahama, has indicated his government\u2019s preparedness to reposition the country\u2019s leading policy and development Bank, the Ghana Export\u2013Import Bank (GEXIM), to play a critical role in transforming the country\u2019s agricultural landscape.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama gave this assurance at the launch of the \u201cFeed Ghana Programme\u201d on Saturday, April 12, 202,5, in Techiman in the Bono East Region.<\/p>\n<p><figure>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/cb66842c2b4684fc8ae8c6919924236a\" alt=\"\" data-image-width=\"1280\" data-image-height=\"853\"\/><br \/>\n       <\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>The programme is expected to play a crucial role in transforming the country\u2019s agricultural landscape, providing support to farmers to increase production and boost the country\u2019s food security.<\/p>\n<p>During his speech, the President highlighted innovative agricultural financing, stating,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinancing remains one of the key barriers to agricultural investment. To address this, the Exim Bank will be refocused to offer concessional loans to farmers and agricultural enterprises, especially those involved in export and value addition. The Government will develop agro-processing zones equipped with irrigation, roads, power and warehousing to attract private investment and processing of agricultural produce,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p><figure>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/764db7009b571280b647c4995fd232ab\" alt=\"\" data-image-width=\"1280\" data-image-height=\"853\"\/><br \/>\n       <\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cFeed Ghana Programme\u201d initiative seeks to boost agricultural production to feed the population, provide raw materials to feed agro-processing factories and create jobs for the teeming youth.<\/p>\n<p>It involves sub-projects on vegetables, grains, poultry, oil palm, tubers and other import substitutes to reduce the country\u2019s reliance on imports and transition into an export-heavy economy.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to a session of the media after the launch of the event, the Acting Chief Executive of GEXIM, Hon.
