Security expert Emmanuel Kotin has urged political parties, particularly the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), to avoid politicizing efforts aimed at restoring peace in Bawku as per reports from MyNewsGH.<\/p>\n
His plea follows controversy surrounding comments made by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who recently suggested that Bawku youth would be prioritized for recruitment into the Ghana Police Service if they lay down their arms and embrace peace. <\/p>\n
Kotin expressed his concerns during an appearance on Hot Edition<\/em> on 3FM, where he criticized the backlash from the Minority in Parliament. <\/p>\n He argued that such reactions, including press conferences, often lack substance and do little to advance the peace process in the region. \u201cThese pressers are becoming one-two minute stunts and are losing their intended effect,\u201d Kotin said. <\/p>\n While acknowledging the criticism, Kotin commended the IGP\u2019s approach to resolving the conflict, describing it as both sensitive and diplomatic. <\/p>\n He emphasized that the IGP\u2019s comments were intended for all Bawku youth, not targeting any particular ethnic group, as some critics suggested. <\/p>\n Kotin further questioned the political motivations behind the backlash, stating, \u201cWhen he said he would prioritize youth, did he say Kusasi or Mamprusi?
