Renowned academic and former Minister of State, Professor Kwasi Yankah, has called for a deeper examination of the issues arising from the offensive comment aimed at Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings in Parliament as reported by Ghana Web.<\/p>\n
He argued that the controversy goes beyond just identifying the person responsible for the insult.<\/p>\n
The remark, made during a heated parliamentary session in February 2025, referred to Dr. Zanetor Rawlings as the \u201cdaughter of a murderer\u201d \u2014 a clear attack on her late father, former President Jerry John Rawlings.<\/p>\n
The comment sparked widespread outrage and led Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to demand an investigation.<\/p>\n
In an article titled \u201c\u2026And WHO SAID TWEAAA?\u201d, Professor Yankah likened the incident to the infamous 2014 “Who said Tweaa” controversy, where an anonymous voice disrupted a District Chief Executive\u2019s speech.<\/p>\n
He stated that, much like that incident, the search for the person behind the offensive parliamentary remark might yield no results.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody probably knew who said \u2018Tweaa,\u2019 but for record purposes, the lawmakers that day saw no evil, heard no evil, and spoke no evil,\u201d Yankah said.<\/p>\n
While condemning the attack on Zanetor Rawlings as \u201cuncouth and unacceptable,\u201d he cautioned against reopening historical wounds linked to Ghana\u2019s violent political past.<\/p>\n
He urged Speaker Bagbin to focus on fostering unity rather than pursuing the culprit.<\/p>\n
