In his first State of the Nation Address to Parliament on February 27, 2025, in his second term, President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to reviving the stalled Accra Marine Drive Project.<\/p>\n The project was a landmark urban redevelopment initiative aimed at transforming Accra\u2019s coastline into a vibrant tourism and economic hub.<\/p>\n \u201cWe’re also committed to revitalising the Accra Marine Drive Project, a significant urban redevelopment initiative, which was designed to transform approximately 241 acres of Accra’s coastline into a vibrant tourism and economic hub,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Addressing Parliament, President Mahama expressed disappointment over the delays, stating, \u201cAlthough Cabinet approval for this vital project was achieved during my presidency in 2016, progress has stalled.\u201d <\/p>\n President Mahama announced plans to reassess the work completed so far and take decisive action to bring the project back on track. <\/p>\n \u201cWe will reassess the work completed and take decisive action to bring this all important project back on track,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n About the Accra Marine Drive Project<\/b><\/p>\n The Accra Marine Drive Project, conceived during President Mahama\u2019s previous administration, was designed to redevelop approximately 241 acres of prime coastline in Accra. <\/p>\n The project, which received Cabinet approval in 2016, was envisioned as a world-class tourism, business, and recreational destination. <\/p>\n It was expected to feature luxury hotels, commercial spaces, recreational facilities, and cultural attractions, creating thousands of jobs and boosting Ghana\u2019s tourism sector.<\/p>\n Despite its potential, the project has seen little progress since its inception. <\/p>\n The revival of the Accra Marine Drive Project is expected to have far-reaching benefits, including job creation, increased foreign investment, and enhanced tourism infrastructure. <\/p>\n The project aligns with the government\u2019s broader vision of positioning Ghana as a leading destination for business and tourism in West Africa.<\/p>\n Background:<\/b><\/p>\n President Mahama’s SONA, which is in line with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, and which is expected to outline his ambitious \u201cResetting Ghana\u201d agenda, aims at tackling economic challenges, creating jobs, and restoring stability.<\/p>\n In his address, the president is expected to touch on key areas of his government’s policy objectives. <\/p>\n He is also expected to provide updates on the state of Ghana\u2019s economy, including the ongoing IMF bailout program, security, and the cost of living, among other issues.<\/p>\n Additionally, he will update Ghanaians on deliverables for the year ahead, as well as the achievements of his government so far and the challenges that lie ahead.<\/p>\n Watch the livestream below:<\/b><\/p>\n![\"Mahama](\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanaweb.com\/imagelib\/pics\/481\/48164045.295.jpg\" "\\"Mahama")
