The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament of Akim Oda, Akwasi Acquah, has provided more details of supposed happenings during the chaos that erupted at the ministerial vetting on Thursday, January 30, 2025.<\/p>\n Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV with Kwesi Parker-Wilson, shared on Facebook on Monday, February 3, 2025, the NPP MP indicated that more harm was done at the sitting than what was captured by the cameras.<\/p>\n He said that in one instance, an MP crawled under a table to grab the testicles of his colleague, National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP of South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, who is also the Majority Chief Whip.<\/p>\n He added that the incident caused Dafeamekpor to scream in agony.<\/p>\n \u201cDuring the chaos, one of the MPs crawled on the floor and went under the table, but I didn\u2019t understand why.<\/p>\n \u201cHe squeezed the \u2018balls\u2019 of Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, forcing him to scream. But the cameras didn\u2019t capture that incident,\u201d he said in the Twi dialect.<\/p>\n About the parliamentary fracas:<\/b><\/p>\n The altercation stemmed from the vetting of Minister of Health-designate Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and Minister of Foreign Affairs-designate, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.<\/p>\n The Minority Caucus accused the Majority Caucus of violating an agreement to vet only four nominees for the day, which led to heated exchanges.<\/p>\n Tensions escalated into physical confrontations, with microphones and furniture destroyed, and one of the vetting tables overturned.<\/p>\n Following the incident, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, suspended four Members of Parliament (MPs) for two weeks.<\/p>\n The suspended MPs are: Frank Annoh-Dompreh (NPP, Nsawam-Adoagyiri); Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor (NDC, South Dayi); Alhassan Tampuli (NPP, Gushegu); Jerry Ahmed Shaib (NDC, Weija-Gbawe).<\/p>\n As confirmed by GhanaWeb\u2019s George Ayisi, a special parliamentary committee, chaired by Ho West MP, Emmanuel Bedzrah, has been tasked with investigating the incident and submitting a report within 10 days.<\/p>\n Additionally, Speaker Bagbin directed the Clerk of Parliament to file a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service for a criminal investigation into the MPs\u2019 conduct.<\/p>\n The Speaker also declared that no public funds would be used to repair damaged parliamentary properties and that MPs found culpable would be surcharged for the repairs.<\/p>\n Watch Akwasi Acquah’s remarks in the video below:<\/b><\/p>\n![\"Akwasi](\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanaweb.com\/imagelib\/pics\/402\/40214335.295.jpg\" "\\"Akwasi")
