Accra, February 3, GNA\u00a0\u2013 Mrs. Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister for Tourism Arts and Culture, has called on businesses and individuals to prioritize the use of Ghanaian-made goods in the hospitality industry\u00a0to support local industries and drive national economic growth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0The Minister made the appeal during her keynote address at the annual Dinner and Awards Night organized by the management of Coconut Grove Hotel to honour its staff for their hard work and dedication.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Held on the hotel\u2019s premises, the event featured a series of fun-filled activities and the presentation of awards to outstanding employees.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0Mrs. Gomashie seized the opportunity to emphasize the importance of local sourcing in addressing Ghana\u2019s import dependency challenges and fostering a resilient local economy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
She urged businesses in the hospitality industry to explore partnerships with local producers for essential items such as furniture, soaps, and lotions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBy sourcing locally, businesses can directly contribute to the growth of our economy while creating sustainable opportunities for Ghanaian producers,\u201d the Minister stated.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
She cited Coconut Grove Hotel as a prime example of a business successfully integrating local products into its operations, encouraging other businesses to follow suit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mrs. Gomashie also highlighted the significant role of tourism in Ghana\u2019s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and commended businesses like Coconut Grove Hotel for their contributions to the sector.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0She expressed her commitment to supporting multi-generational Ghanaian enterprises and called on the hotel to incorporate the government\u2019s \u201cBlack Star Experience\u201d programme into its strategic planning.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The initiative, which aimed at driving innovation and change, aligns with the Ministry\u2019s vision for a vibrant and sustainable tourism industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On his part, Dr. Kweku Nduom, Vice President of Groupe Nduom Ghana, emphasized the\u00a0contributions of the staff\u00a0to the hotel\u2019s success and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their efforts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
He reiterated the company\u2019s philosophy of sharing its success with all stakeholders, including shareholders, staff, and their families.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dr. Nduom also highlighted the hotel\u2019s tradition of recognizing top performers, expressing confidence in another successful year ahead.\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the event, staff members were honoured for their outstanding performance throughout the year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mrs. Joyce Kyeremateng was named the Best Worker for 2024, while Mr. Samuel Donkor and Mr. Samuel Massillino took second and third positions respectively.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
