\n\t\t\t\t\tHaruna Iddrisu, the Education Minister-Designate, has announced a significant initiative to provide financial relief to first-year university students. During his vetting by Parliament\u2019s Appointments Committee, he disclosed that students who have already paid their admission fees will receive refunds as part of the \u2018No Fees Stress\u2019 policy.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\tThe initiative, introduced by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, aims to make tertiary education more accessible and affordable. GH\u00a2345 million will be \u00a0earmarked to cover admission fees for students pursuing general subject areas at public tertiary institutions, excluding professional programs like medicine.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t\u201cOn the authority of President Mahama, and with the approval of the Minister of Finance-designate, Hon. Ato Forson, this provision will be included in the government\u2019s Reset Budget. The funds will ensure that students undertaking courses in the general subject areas have their admission fees refunded,\u201d Haruna Iddrisu revealed.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\tHe further explained, \u201cWe intend to provide that money to the affected universities, at least one to make refund to all those who have already paid those fees.\u201d The funds will be distributed directly to the universities, ensuring eligible students receive their refunds promptly.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\tThis policy is part of President Mahama\u2019s broader vision of fostering a more inclusive and supportive educational system in Ghana. It also fulfills a key promise in the NDC\u2019s manifesto. The government plans to monitor the program\u2019s impact and explore its potential expansion to include more areas in the future, further reducing financial barriers for students and their families.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
