Ho, Jan. 20, GNA \u2013 Mr Richard Divine Bosson, the immediate past Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) of Ho, has threatened legal action over viral claims that a ten-unit housing project in the city was his personal property.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A video circulating on social media shows the buildings neatly lined up and all at lentil level, and with the alleged narrator, Mr Stanley Nelvis Glatey, a National Democratic Congress Activist and Lecturer, alleging it was the private property of the MCE.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The voice is heard calling on the special asset recovery team, \u2018Operation Recover All Loot\u2019 (ORAL), set up by President Mahama to address alleged state capture, to investigate the housing project.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, Mr Bosson, in a written response sighted by the GNA, has stated that the project, was being undertaking by the Assembly to provide accommodation for staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to the response, the said land for the project was donated by the traditional rulers at a public and well documented ceremony, where Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, then Volta Regional Minister, Togbe Howusu XII, Awafiaga of Asogli State and others were present for the ground-breaking exercise.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The former MCE said in the statement dated Saturday, January 18, 2025, that \u201cThe project aimed to alleviate the accommodation burden faced by Assembly staff, and we collaborated with other state institutions to achieve this goal. Specifically, the land in question is owned by the Ghana Health Service and is currently occupied by the Nurses Training College and School of Hygiene.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe engaged with the relevant stakeholders, including the Boards of the School of Hygiene and Nurses Training College, the\u202fPrincipals, and the Lands Commission, to bring this project to fruition. Notably, there is a documented agreement in place that ensures the two institutions will also benefit from the facility, not just the Ho Municipal Assembly staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He went on to state that \u201ca sod-cutting ceremony was held to mark the commencement of the project, and I encourage those with questions to verify the information through the aforementioned institutions.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr Bosson said he considered the misinformation going round as a public deception as the matter was also bearing on his image as a public figure, and therefore would pursue legal action.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m concerned about the spread of misinformation and hope that we can rely on factual accounts to guide our understanding of this matter. Throughout my service, I have diligently worked for the betterment of Ho and Ghana, and I remain committed to transparency and accountability.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI have instructed my lawyers to take immediate action to protect my reputation and clear my name,\u201d he stated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a group calling itself the \u201cCoalition of Volta Youth Against the Sale of Government Lands, has called on the President to extend the ORAL to various regions and districts in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to Stanley Nelvis Glatey, the Convener of the coalition, state lands in the Volta Regional Capital had been lost to individuals, and therefore the Operation would be required in preserving the crucial assets for future use.\u00a0<\/p>\n
