The much-anticipated Ghana Victory Concert, organized to celebrate the National Democratic Congress (NDC) win in the 2024 elections, has taken an unexpected turn.<\/p>\n
Stonebwoy, initially announced as the headline act, has been dropped following pressure from the party\u2019s grassroots.<\/p>\n
Shortly after the lineup was revealed, a section of NDC supporters expressed dissatisfaction with the inclusion of the award-winning dancehall artist, citing speculation about his alleged ties to the opposing New Patriotic Party (NPP).<\/p>\n
These concerns quickly escalated into widespread calls for his removal, placing the event organizers and the National Executive Council under immense pressure to act.<\/p>\n
In a press statement issued today, January 3, 2025, the organizers confirmed the removal of Stonebwoy from the concert.<\/p>\n
They apologized to the party\u2019s supporters, acknowledging what they described as \u201ca lack of discretion\u201d in the initial lineup decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe sincerely apologize to all members of the National Democratic Congress, particularly the grassroots, for what may have appeared to be a lack of discretion on the part of the organizers. We also extend our apologies to Stonebwoy and his team for this unfortunate outcome,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
The backlash has also sparked discussions about which artists truly represent the party\u2019s journey and victory.<\/p>\n
Some supporters have suggested the inclusion of vocal NDC loyalists like Mzbel and Nero X, whose contributions to the party\u2019s campaigns are well-known.<\/p>\n
Stonebwoy, the reigning TGMA Artist of the Year, has yet to comment on the development.<\/p>\n
