“It all started with my birthday. I decided not to be doing party again, but rather party with the kids at the orphanage,” Donnie noted.
Joseph continued that, “last year I decided to give the street because I realised there’s a lot of hunger on the street, so that was when we did 1,500. This year, I decided to champion in more and I spoke to Firm Health and GhanaWeb and they loved it. So here we are today.”
Dr. Sylvester Akpah of Firm Health Foundation, a partner of the Feeding with Dignity initiative, highlighted the nutritional standards put in place and explained why they chose to partner with Donsey Kitchen and Grills.
“As a foundation, which is health bias, we also believe in some social interventions. And the typical social intervention is this. When Donsey Kitchen and Grills approached us with this project, we thought that it actually falls in line with our core values, and we gave it some deep thought and we decided to partner with them,” he said.
He concluded by saying, “Cooking for a large number of people, there’s a need that you need to ensure, that there are no spread of any diseases as we have it. So in terms of the environment in which the meals were prepared, we needed to make sure that those environments are clean. Even those who were preparing the meals, we needed to ensure that they follow every critical standards to ensure that the meals that we serve are meals that are nutritious and very wholesome.”
The Feeding with Dignity initiative concluded with 3,000 underprivileged individuals living on the streets being served with nutritious meals.
