AMA to continue revenue collection over Christmas and New Year holidays

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced that it will continue the collection of approved tolls and fees throughout the Christmas and New Year festivities, including Saturdays and Sundays, to sustain essential city services during the peak season.

In a press release issued on Tuesday 23 December, the Assembly said it had also activated 24-hour sanitation and security operations to support continuous waste evacuation, routine clean-ups, rapid response to sanitation incidents and enforcement support at key public spaces, markets, transport terminals and major corridors as residents and visitors celebrate the festive season.

The Assembly said the decision was informed by the need to match heightened commercial and social activity during the period with uninterrupted municipal services, particularly in sanitation delivery and public safety management.

It urged traders, transport operators, market users and other fee-paying members of the public to comply fully with AMA regulations in line with relevant by-laws, stressing that approved tolls and fees remained lawful obligations that supported city operations.
