The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has commended health workers across the country for their dedication and resilience, describing them as the backbone of Ghana’s healthcare delivery system.
In an end-of-year message to the nation on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the Minister expressed appreciation to doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, administrators, and other frontline workers for their selfless service, often rendered under difficult circumstances.
“As we draw the curtains on the year, I extend warm greetings to all citizens, especially our dedicated health professionals across the length and breadth of our country,” he said.
Mr Akandoh noted that the year under review had been marked by commitment and renewed focus on strengthening Ghana’s health system, despite persistent challenges.

He said the government had taken deliberate steps to improve access to quality healthcare, enhance health financing, and prioritise the welfare of health workers.
He assured health professionals that the government remains committed to addressing concerns relating to conditions of service, logistics, and outstanding obligations, stressing that engagement with relevant institutions would continue to ensure fair and sustainable resolutions.
“Despite the challenges encountered, our collective resolve has remained strong,” the Minister stated, adding that the government recognises the sacrifices made by health workers in saving lives and bringing hope to families.
Looking ahead to the new year, the Health Minister said the Ministry of Health would intensify efforts to expand health infrastructure, improve service delivery, strengthen preventive healthcare, and advance the agenda of equitable and affordable healthcare for all Ghanaians.
He also called on citizens to adopt healthy lifestyles and support national health programmes aimed at disease prevention and health promotion.
Hon. Akandoh concluded by wishing Ghanaians a peaceful end to the year and a prosperous and healthy New Year, invoking blessings for unity, progress, and good health for the nation.
