Interior Ministry declares Dec 25, 26 and Jan 1 as public holidays

The Ministry of the Interior has declared Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26, 2025, and Thursday, January 1, 2026, as statutory public holidays in Ghana.

The declaration was made in a statement issued by the Ministry on Friday, December 19, 2025, in Accra.

According to the Ministry, December 25, 2025, marks Christmas Day, while December 26, 2025, is observed as Boxing Day. January 1, 2026, will be observed as New Year’s Day.

The Ministry of the Interior urged the public to observe the holidays throughout the country in accordance with existing laws.

The announcement is in line with Ghana’s Public Holidays Act and forms part of arrangements to mark the festive season and the beginning of the new year.
