KMA unveils Zongo Transformation plan for 2026

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced plans to transform Zongo communities across the metropolis, beginning with Moshie Zongo, as part of its 2026 development agenda.

The initiative, which includes the construction of a modern market with an attached police post and other social amenities, is aligned with the government’s Resetting Agenda. KMA says the plan will prioritise critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving livelihoods and reshaping the image of Zongo communities in Kumasi.

The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori Agyemang-Boadi, disclosed this during an engagement with opinion leaders at Moshie Zongo on Tuesday, December 16, where he reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive development and equitable distribution of infrastructure.

According to the Mayor, the proposed projects are expected to stimulate economic activity, enhance security, and significantly improve living conditions for residents in the area.

He stressed that the transformation of Zongo communities requires deliberate investment in modern infrastructure to support sustainable urban development.

“We are committed to building modern one-bedroom and chamber-and-hall housing units for Zongo communities. If we want to truly transform Zongo, we must introduce new infrastructure. This is key to achieving President Mahama’s vision to modernise and uplift Zongo communities,” the Mayor stated.
