Bankyease (Ash) Dec 10, GNA – Ms. Shirley Kyei, Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Nwabiagya South in the Ashanti region says hard work, honesty and dedication are useful tools needed to ensure the successful implementation of the ‘Nkoko Nketenkete’ project.
She pointed out that, for such a government flagship policy to succeed and yield the expected results, those appointed to ensure the execution of the project must be honest, disciplined, resilient, and hard working to achieve the desired gains.
Ms Kyei was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on the sidelines of the 41st farmers’ day celebration held at Bankyease, a farming community near Nkawie.
She stated that the initiative was good and could benefit the people but could also fail if the facilitators did not show commitment.
She noted that, for any policy to be successful and produce the desired results, it needed the full participation and commitment of all stakeholders to avoid failure or disappointment.
She mentioned the diversion of materials and inputs for personal interests instead of the designed objectives, misusing of such materials and inputs, as well as laziness as some challenges of new policies.
She, therefore, urged her constituents who may benefit from the 10,000 chicks earmarked for the constituency under the project, to work diligently to make it profitable to help improve on their socio-economic livelihoods in their communities.
She also urged the facilitators to monitor closely to ensure discipline and prevent stealing, mismanagement and misuse or diversion of materials.
The MP mentioned poverty reduction and improved livelihoods of the people as her priority and would therefore help implement policies towards people’s welfare and not political affiliation and other different interests.
