The Deputy Director in charge of Field Operations for the United Party (UP), Afia Korankyewaa, has labelled the ‘nkoko nkete nkete’ policy introduced by the government as a laudable one which needs to be protected.
The government unveiled the Nkoko Nketenkete household and backyard poultry production initiative to address the core of Ghana’s food security and inclusive growth agenda.
Under the initiative, a total of three million birds will be distributed across all 276 constituencies to benefit 60,000 households.
Each constituency is expected to receive 10,000 birds as part of the intervention.
Furthermore, each household participating in the initiative will receive 50 birds, in addition to feed support and technical guidance to ensure the sustainability of their projects.
Commenting on the launch of the policy on Kasapa FM’s Morning Show, Ghana Kasa, on Monday, November 17, 2025, Miss Korankyewaa said such a laudable policy which ought to be protected and appreciated by all Ghanaians.
Speaking on Kasapa FM’s Morning Show, Ghana Kasa on Monday, 17th November, 2025, Afia Korankyewaa urged beneficiary to ensure that the animals to be supplied are adequately taken care of.
“We need to protect this policy, it is a very laudable one and one which would help limit the importation of processed chicken and provide employment…,” she said.
She however asked the government to reduce the number of chicken to be supplied to each beneficiary from 50 to 20.
“Although the initiative is commendable, the capabilities of the beneficiaries also ought to be properly evaluated…,” she added.
