AAMUSTED Alumni President pledges renewed purpose, stronger foundation

By Muyid Deen Suleman, GNA

Kumasi, Dec. 7, GNA – Professor Humphrey Danso, President of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) Alumni Association, has pledged to instill a renewed sense of purpose and strengthen the foundational structures of the Association.

He stressed that the success and longevity of any association depend greatly on a solid administrative and legal framework, underscoring the need for structural stability and clarity of purpose.

According to him, the alumni body is committed to refining its mission to deliver meaningful value to its members.

Prof. Danso made these remarks during the Association’s second Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the University’s new lecture block in Kumasi.

The AGM provided an opportunity to review the Association’s activities over the past year, plan for the year ahead, and elect new committee members.

He noted that the Association had already gained considerable momentum, setting the stage for a more impactful 2026.

He recalled that on March 29, 2025, AAMUSTED Alumni held its second Congress under the theme “Addressing Unemployment in Ghana,” during which five executive officers were elected.

A key milestone achieved in 2025, he said, was the successful registration of the Association with the Registrar of Companies, culminating in the issuance of its Certificate of Incorporation in August.

This legal recognition, he added, strengthens the Association’s ability to form partnerships and pursue long-term initiatives.

Prof. Danso further revealed that the Association had secured a two-room office space from University Management, which will serve as the permanent Alumni Secretariat.

This dedicated office, he said, demonstrates the University’s commitment to enhancing alumni engagement and would play a crucial role in administrative coordination and record-keeping.

To promote transparency and strengthen financial accountability, the Association has also acquired an MTN Merchant SIM to streamline the collection of membership dues and contributions.

On social engagement, he highlighted the successful “Kwahu Experience” held on April 19, 2025, which brought together more than 40 alumni for outdoor bonding, networking, and wellness activities, affirming that alumni connections go beyond professional interactions.

He added that the Executive Committee had embarked on outreach visits to alumni at the Mampong Campus to deepen engagement and promote inclusivity among graduates from all campuses.

In addition, the Association partnered with the AAMUSTED SRC during the 2025 SRC Week Celebration to organize a seminar on “Bridging the Gap Between Graduates and the Student Body.”

The event featured distinguished alumni who provided mentorship and shared career guidance with students.

Another significant initiative was the launch of the Alumni Spotlight and Recognition programme, through which profiles of eleven outstanding alumni were published to celebrate excellence and inspire both current and future graduates.

According to him, the broader role of the AAMUSTED Alumni Association was to provide a strategic compass that goes beyond networking, serving as a catalyst for job creation, entrepreneurship, and holistic mentorship across the country.
