Medeama SC goalkeeper Felix Kyei has revealed the motivation behind his decision to commit his long-term future to the club, despite interest from several other clubs.
Kyei signed a two-year contract extension last Friday, keeping him at the club until 2029.
Speaking to the media after Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Bechem United in Tarkwa, Kyei said the sense of belonging, warmth, and respect he enjoys at Medeama made extending his stay an easy choice.
“At Medeama, I feel at home. Everyone here, management, technical team, teammates, and supporters, makes me feel welcome. That alone motivates me to stay and keep fighting for this badge,” he said.
“Many clubs showed interest, but loyalty and the environment matter. Here, I feel valued and believe in the project we are building,” Kyei added.
Since joining Medeama from Karela United in January 2023, he has become one of the team’s most influential players.
He helped Medeama win the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League title and guided them to their first CAF Champions League group stage. His performances have also earned him invitations to the Local Black Stars.
The goalkeeper explained that the trust and support he receives from the club played a major role in rejecting other offers.
