The Volta Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has destroyed 600 sacks of Indian hemp, weighing 47,530 kilograms and valued at an estimated GH¢4.2 billion, marking the closure of a high-profile narcotics case that has been before the Ho Circuit Court for several years.
The consignment, seized in 2022, was incinerated on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Klefe dumping site in Ho under heavy security supervision.
The destruction followed a court order issued by His Honour Felix Datsumor after the exhibits were officially tendered in evidence in the case involving Yao Kwadwo, also known as Wallako, and two others.
Officials from the Circuit Court, the Attorney General’s Office, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) oversaw the exercise.

Police and National Security personnel were also present to ensure transparency and adherence to legal procedures.
The operation underscores the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes and enforcing the law on controlled substances.
