Traditional leaders in Kwahu have reportedly invoked curses on certain traditional leaders, and their families allegedly involved in the recent abduction of the Kwahuhemaa.

A video that went viral on X on November 19, 2025, showed a group of men invoking the curses using a bottle of schnapps.

The Queen Mother of the Kwahu Traditional Council, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua III, has since been released following the intervention of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohonu.

She was reportedly taken by men believed to be unknown individuals in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025, during an attack on the palace of the Paramount Chief.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service confirmed her release and said the IGP had directed the Police Professional Standards Bureau to investigate the circumstances surrounding the operation.

The statement added that any officers found culpable would face appropriate sanctions.

Meanwhile, security has been intensified in the area as authorities work to prevent further unrest.
