Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare is the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry
The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has called for a robust regulatory framework to fast-track the integration of electric and hybrid vehicles into Ghana’s automotive sector.
She emphasised that the ongoing review of the Ghana Automotive Development Policy seeks to formally incorporate electric and hybrid vehicles.
According to her, this inclusion will provide the strong regulatory foundation needed to expand local assembly, lower costs, and advance Ghana’s climate objectives.
Speaking at the opening of ZondaTec Ghana’s showroom in Accra on November 19, 2025, Ofosu-Adjare noted that although some electric products, particularly E-bicycles, are already being assembled locally, progress has been slow due to the absence of comprehensive legislation.

“Although certain electric vehicles, especially electric bicycles, are being assembled on a limited scale, the lack of a comprehensive legal framework has constrained the ongoing review of the Ghana Automotive Development Policy. This review aims to formally integrate electric and hybrid vehicles. I am confident that its successful completion will establish a solid regulatory base, enabling the expansion of local assembly, improving affordability, and contributing meaningfully to our climate goals,” she stated.
The Minister further stressed that the private sector remains the backbone of every economy, adding that private investments strengthen Ghana’s position as a preferred hub for industrial growth.
She urged private enterprises to emulate ZondaTec Ghana by supporting government-led industrialisation initiatives.
“We have positioned Ghana as the preferred destination for high-value manufacturing and assembly in the region. I encourage the private sector to follow this path and invest significantly in our economy by supporting the government’s industrialisation agenda. Let this showroom serve as a gateway for more Ghanaians to access world-class vehicles assembled with Ghanaian skill and dedication,” she added.
The CEO of ZondaTec Ghana Limited, Madam Yang Yang, alongside Elizabeth Ofosu‑Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, officially inaugurated the company’s new Dzorwulu branch.
The grand opening featured the spectacular unveiling of the highly anticipated Tank 700 car, showcasing ZondaTec’s innovation and commitment to cutting-edge automotive technology.
