The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force conducted a bold dawn raid on the notorious illegal mining enclave “Yellow Face” in Wassa Abrehyia, Western Region.
The surprise operation forced suspected galamsey operators to flee as officers stormed the site. During the raid, makeshift structures were destroyed, and equipment used in illegal mining activities was set ablaze.
The task force also uncovered the extensive use of illicit drugs and dynamite within the enclave.
NAIMOS confirmed that similar targeted operations will be intensified in the coming days and weeks to curb galamsey activities and address the growing drug-related issues linked to such sites.
