Luis Rubiales was attacked while launching his memoir
Former Spanish Football Federation President, Luis Rubiales, was pelted with eggs while presenting a memoir related to his troubles after kissing a player at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
While seated and addressing the audience, eggs were hurled at him, smashing against the screen behind him as he quickly turned to avoid being struck.

His book Matar A Rubiales (Killing Rubiales) is a 500-page account of his professional downfall following the incident with Spain forward Jenni Hermoso during the 2023 Women’s World Cup awards ceremony.
Speaking to the media, Rubiales disclosed that the man who tried to attack him was his uncle, and he had no prior knowledge of his intentions.
“A man entered who I later saw was my uncle, who is a troubled man, and always has been,” Rubiales told reporters. “He had some eggs and threw them at me, but I didn’t know what he had in his hands. When I first saw him, I thought he might be carrying a weapon,” he said, as reported by NBC News.
According to its publisher, Rubiales claims he was the victim of a “conspiracy of different powers of Spanish public life, including the government and the profitable world of feminism.”
The case is currently being handled by security officials, who are probing the incident thoroughly.
