Peacefully Report Yourself Over Alleged Financial Misconduct

Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has called on individuals who illegally obtained state funds under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to voluntarily surrender themselves.

The directive underscores the OSP’s intensified efforts to combat corruption and holds all perpetrators accountable, regardless of the amount involved.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is reportedly being investigated for his alleged role in the controversial Power Distribution Services (PDS) agreement.

He is accused of approving a change from a bank guarantee to an insurance guarantee, which is said to have cost Ghana $190 million from the Millennium Challenge Corporation and facilitated suspicious asset transfers.

Critics also allege that over $4 million was withdrawn from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) without official authorization. Dr. Bawumia’s office has denied his involvement, blaming an unauthorized staff member.

The OSP’s actions have heightened public attention and reinforced the message that corruption will not be tolerated. This campaign represents a critical moment in Ghana’s governance, emphasizing accountability, impartiality, and the protection of public resources.
